Human Trafficking

Language is insufficient to describe the situation of
modern-day human trafficking around the world.

In North America, every student studies the despicable transatlantic slave trade that lasted between 1525 and 1866. It is estimated that in this 350-year time period, over 12.5 million Africans were abducted against their will and forced into slave labor. When Americans learn of this disgraceful tragedy, they wonder how on earth this could have gone on for so long unchecked. They comfort themselves by thinking they would not have kept silent if they were alive in the 17th century. They would have spoken up. They would have acted. Herein lies the great unspoken tragedy of our day and age.

Today there are more people in slavery than there have been at any time in human history, including the time when slavery was legal in America. Over two million people are forced into slave labor every year; many of whom are children under the age of 18. Yet the vast majority of Americans have turned a blind eye to this evil.

According to a 2022 UN report, over 50 million people are currently living in modern-day slavery. The statistics are more damning today than they’ve ever been throughout history:

The 2L Foundation is partnered with world-class organizations that provide the full spectrum of help and support for children trapped in human trafficking rings around the world. This devastating and complex issue requires professional expertise, a safe environment, and vast resources as the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual damage inflicted on these young people is deep.

We have a partnership is with Path 2 Freedom (P2F); a 501c3 that provides a safe environment as well as long-term, transformational programming for rescued victims of sex trafficking. P2F is built on six pillars of restoration:

1. Family First (staffed with full-time parenting adults)

2. Individualized (customized services based on unique needs)

3. Strengths Focused (engages based on strengths and talents)

4. Evidence-Based (committed to track, assess, and report)

5. Licensed Mental Health Oversight (professional, licensed support)

6. Collaboration (collaborating with other, qualified service providers)
